Event 1: Library Lovers Day 'Book and Chocolate Tasting'

MSC Poster

To celebrate Library Lovers' Day this year, Mareeba Shire Library held a 'Book and Chocolate Tasting' event. This was successfully celebrated in partnership with local coffee and chocolate maker, The Coffee Works

Despite the small space available at the library (space for approximately 30 people only), the event proved so popular it was booked out with many being placed on a waiting list!

The idea was for the event-goers to sample some chocolates and coffee, while browsing new book titles. It provided readers the opportunity to find new authors, genres and storylines or just something very different from what they would usually read. As part of the library's Readers Advisory Service, event guest were asked to fill in a 'Find my Match' form where they indicated their preferred genre and favourite authors - and what they didn't like reading. This provided staff the opportunity to suggest new authors or titles to borrow.

This ranked as the most successful Library Lovers Day event ever held at Mareeba Shire Library, with much positive feedback received from attendees.
