About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused Manager to lead the Woollahra Libraries department on a permanent full-time basis.

As the Manager Woollahra Libraries, you will provide inspirational and innovative leadership to a diverse team of library professionals, responsible for the provision of responsive library and information services for our community across our three libraries located in Double Bay, Watsons Bay and Paddington.

Working with a dedicated team, you will ensure that our Library services are contemporary and reflect best practice. You will continuously look for opportunities to improve the way we deliver services particularly through the utilisation of technological and customer design solutions.

About you

We are seeking an exceptional leader with strong communication skills and abilities to deliver a high quality customer experience for the Woollahra Libraries community.

You will be a high achiever with:

  • A degree or post-graduate qualification in Library and Information Science or equivalent.
  • Strong people leadership skills at a senior level within libraries and information services.
  • Record of achievement in leadership and innovation at a senior level, including the implementation of management improvement initiatives.
  • Well-developed ability to think and plan strategically and to lead the development of long term strategies and objectives for the Library & Information Service.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation and best practice in the provision of library and information services.
  • Demonstrated commitment and ability to lead the provision of quality customer service.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and manage staff to achieve Council’s objectives.
  • Extensive experience in budget preparation and control and in the cost effective delivery of services to the community.
  • Able to deal constructively with complex and conflicting situations.
  • High level oral and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively represent the Library at internal and external meetings and to make public presentations.
  • Current Class C Drivers Licence.
  • Satisfactory Working with Children Check.

Desirable Criteria 

  • Experience in Local Government.
