  • Band 5 – Permanent (21 hours/week)


An exciting opportunity exists to join the Collections team at the Port Phillip Library Service, within the Cultural and Economic Development Department.

This is a permanent part-time position and includes one frontline evening shift per week and weekend shifts as part of a 3-month weekend roster cycle.


The successful applicant will work as part of a dynamic team, taking responsibility to ensure that cataloguing and processing work flows are maintained within the Technical Services team. The position’s primary location will be the St. Kilda Library however the role can operate from any branch depending on operational requirements. Responsibilities include team leadership, identification of issues that may impede collection access for the user and liaison with external vendors to resolve cataloguing issues. The position also requires the provision of quality reader development and allied customer services in the context of a busy inner city public library when leading frontline teams.


This role will suit a person who is hardworking, positive and passionate about how they can contribute to the ongoing development of a quality public library collection for the communities that make up the City of Port Phillip. You should have enthusiasm for working in a highly flexible team environment and proven experience in providing excellent customer service. Demonstrated experience in the creation and review of catalogue records for both hardcopy and digital items that are suited to a public library setting is desirable.
