LIBRARIES AND SOCIAL MEDIA: How to use social networking tools to enhance library services.
 
Social media enables libraries to communicate directly with their customers and to strengthen library community relations.
Libraries are at the heart of the physical community in many parts of Australia.  Social media is increasingly playing a major role in building digital and online communities around areas, interests and activities. It allows libraries to reach community members who might not be aware that a library can meet their information needs.

The theme of this year’s festival is ‘The Making of Our Nation’ and it will be celebrated at hundreds of fantastic events across metropolitan and regional NSW from Friday 9 April to Saturday 24 April 2010.  These events will include a wide range of community activities including discovery tours, art exhibitions, walks, talks, awards presentations, concerts, open days, photographic and historical displays and community fairs.
