Position Summary

Community Engagement Librarian (Heritage Curation)

Fixed Term Full Time – 1 year contract

Band 5 - $69,029 - $ 80,441 (+ 9.5% super + RDO)

Hobsons Bay Libraries is looking for a suitably qualified and experienced person who will play a key role in sharing the historical stories of Hobsons Bay and its people. This full-time role, fixed-term for 12 months with the possibility of extension, is responsible for planning and delivery of programs and customer focused services in the local and family history areas.

Key responsibilities for this role include;

  • Lead the Heritage Team in providing high quality research assistance and customer service.
  • Plan and implement engaging heritage programs, events and training for the community.
  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders including other Council teams, historical societies and community groups.
  • Curate and preserve electronic and physical heritage collections and exhibitions.   

Your expert knowledge in digitisation, preservation, heritage research, and community engagement will assist the library service to meet the changing needs of the community, and to develop new ways of assisting the community to explore and share history. You will have the skills to implement projects, and demonstrate positive and proactive leadership to staff within the Heritage portfolio and through regular customer service shifts.
