Bordered on the North by Ku-ring-gai National Park and the South by Lane Cove National Park, this leafy municipality offers its library service from four branches based at Gordon, Lindfield, St Ives and Turramurra.

Council is currently seeking a self-motivated and experienced librarian to develop and maintain specialist services with an emphasis on promoting awareness of, and interest in, Local Studies through user education, presentations, displays and activities.

This role will see you be involved in developing, implementing and reviewing the training of customers and staff in the effective use of relevant information tools and technologies and promoting an understanding of resources held in the Local studies, family history and archival collections. Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Exceptional customer - focused service delivery to library clients
  • Use and maintenance of current library and digital technologies
  • Delivery of programs and events
  • Supervision of staff

To be considered for this role you will require:

  • Experience in collaborative team work with the ability to build and maintain relationships with staff and key stakeholders
  • Experience in the implementation of new technologies in the delivery of local studies and other library services
  • Experience in areas such as research, creating databases, indexing, social media and digitisation projects
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation including the State Records Act and local government practice concerning management of records and material of Local significance desirable
  • Supervisory experience

.**As a part of the branch network team this role will be required to work at any of our libraries as rostered. A willingness to work flexible hours on occasion, including rostered evening and weekend work will be required**
