About the City of Ryde library service

Our libraries are places of social inclusion where members of our community borrow items for leisure and lifelong learning, learn about new technology, participate in activities, attend children and adult programs, and carry out research for school or business projects. They are lively, busy places and serve a culturally diverse customer base.

With the expansion of our library service to meet the needs of our growing community and the development of a new library in Macquarie Park, there has never been a more exciting time to manage the Library Services department.

About the position

You will manage up to 60 permanent staff and a significant casual pool in the delivery of services across 5 libraries encompassing Ryde, West Ryde, Eastwood, North Ryde and Gladesville. With consistently high customer satisfaction ratings and an experienced and engaged workforce, your challenge will be to build on the existing success of the library service and take it to the next level to meet the changing needs of customers and the growth in our resident and business populations.

You will also be a member of the Customer & Community Services management team and have regular input to the strategic direction of the Directorate.

About You

You will be a visionary leader with a track record of achieving best practice outcomes in the provision of library services. A strategic thinker, you will use your knowledge, experience and creative thinking abilities to position the library service to meet the challenges of population growth and changing customer expectations.

On a personal level, you will have a business focused approach, be results driven and have a positive, resilient nature. You will also possess a track record of achievement in leading and inspiring teams in an innovative library environment.

Benefits & Conditions

Your salary is negotiable in the region of $160k plus superannuation subject to your experience and track record of success as a professional Library Manager.
