This Senior Leadership role is responsible for providing and managing Library Services to the community.  The position is required to provide a proactive, informative and responsive service consistent with council’s objectives, vision and core values.  This role is responsible for the Library staff, assets, technology and equipment. Blue Mountains Libraries strive to provide services that are at the leading edge of library innovation and best practice, often with limited resources. The expectation is to expand and grow the activities by providing amenities and services that are friendly, professionally presented and delivered, attractive, current to community expectations and industry trends, and comparative to other regional facilities.

The person for this role will have at least 5 years’ experience in a library management role and ability to project management with high level budget experience.  They will need to have tertiary qualification in library studies or a related discipline. The person will have extensive personal experience and knowledge across a range of contemporary public library service issues and a sound working knowledge of governing legislation and frameworks.  They will need to have high level written and oral communication skills, experience in proposing new, creative and sound alternatives to improve library services, plus the ability to identify the implications and possible consequences of trends or events that may impact on current and future client needs.  They will have experience in building a strong team and creating an environment that encourages change and innovation.  

Salary:  commencing at $3879.21 gross per fortnight.
