Research & Collection Services Coordinator

About the role 
This position is responsible for leading the Research & Collections Services team which includes Council and community archives, Councils cultural collection that consists of social history, art history and archaeology, and local studies & family history collections. The role is to ensure access and longevity of research services and collections, the position holds overall responsibility for their management and care.

On a daily basis you will be: 

  • Leading the strategic management and development of Council’s collections and historical research.
  • Sharing and applying your experience and knowledge in the GLAM sector, in the advancement of research and collection digital and physical management processes, to ensure the current and future collections are accessible to the public so they can learn more about Parramatta.
  • Strategically growing public engagement both on-line and face to face; advancing the use of research services and collections through multiple communication channels and programming.
  • Working as a part of the broader Cultural Heritage & Tourism team of Council and other teams of Council as well as with strategic partners of Council in the heritage sector.
  • Coordinating the content development and delivery of research stories across the various collections to share the rich and diverse stories of Parramattas past.

About the person 
The successful candidate must have previous experience and professional qualifications in a relevant field of expertise including Cultural Heritage Management, Interpretation Management, Museum and Collection Management, Archival Management or Information Management.

You will have:

  • Experience of leading and managing a successful team focused on public access and engagement, research and communication within the cultural heritage industry.
  • Demonstrable experience of improving performance and service to customers.
  • Experience of leading and managing a successful team focused on public access and engagement, research and communication within the cultural heritage industry.
  • Considerable knowledge and demonstrable application of contemporary cultural heritage management theory and practice, collections management principles and practices, and of professional developments in the areas of library, museum and archive service provision.

We are offering an attractive salary from $103,167 p.a. plus Superannuation. City of Parramatta Council also offers excellent employee benefits which can be accessed by the successful candidate.
