Reporting to the Team Leader Library Branches, this important supervisory role looks after a professional branch library team ensuring the programs and services offered are innovative, relevant, financially viable and well utilised by the local community.

What would a day in this role look like:

  • Spend time coaching and building capacity in your team, providing support and development opportunities to drive a positive and service focused team culture;   
  • Review our collection or identify opportunities for fresh and innovative programs to drive community engagement and ensure our programs are meeting community needs;
  • Focus on continuous improvement and best practice, participate in reviewing our policies, and develop new processes and procedures to support any policy changes;
  • Ensure the effective and efficient operation of the Branch Library within allocated budget and resources. 

About You:

  • Ideally Degree qualified in Management and/or Library and Information Science, your background in similar roles includes library operations, budget management, and managing teams in a high volume customer service environment, where results count;

Based at the Rockingham Central Library you will provide library services to the community, ensuring all available services are provided to children and young people, and contribute to the efficient operation of the Library as a whole.

To be the successful candidate, you will have experience in a customer focussed environment and are able to communicate effectively with children, youth and their parents. You have demonstrated skills in problem solving and time management and are able to demonstrate these skills along with your ability to use initiative.

You have proven experience in planning, promoting and organising events and programs, particularly with a community focus. You work well in a team environment and are able to establish and maintain positive work relationships with different government authorities, education institutions and individual stakeholders. You have a passion for increasing literacy among children and young people, and for promoting library services and resources to residents.

You possess a tertiary qualification in library services and/or early childhood education. A ‘C’ class driver’s licence and use of own vehicle is essential as in this role you will be required to drive between the City’s libraries.

The successful candidate will oversee core service delivery across the Sunshine Coast Library network including eight libraries and two mobile and outreach services.  The position also leads the Digital Services and Collections Services teams which provide service wide network and IT services and look after the procurement, selection and integration of all physical and eResources for customer use.

In an average day, as a member of the leadership team, you will provide region-wide leadership and management for key library projects and activities including:

  • The development of internal and external partnerships, networks and communications which transform library service delivery and drive business improvement
  • The delivery of strategic goals that achieve library network transformation
  • Oversight of the management of libraries’ budget and support for staff with operational budget responsibilities

About you

A natural leader, you will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience at a senior level in a Library environment, and Tertiary qualifications in Library Science, Community Development, Management or similar fields. You will be a successful driver of change with outstanding interpersonal and organisational skills in the areas of leadership, project delivery, continuous improvement, building teams and consultation. Your ability to effectively apply soft skills to resolve staff and customer issues and meet changing needs is pivotal to this position. Position Summary

Team Leader Library Marketing and Digital Branch 

Fixed Term Full Time (12 months parental leave cover) 35 hours per week

Band 6 $87,914 - $97,050 (+ 10% super & RDO)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to backfill the Team Leader Library Marketing and Digital Branch in the Community Learning and Service Centres Department in a parental leave replacement role.

If you are experienced in a marketing or communications role, and can provide excellent front-facing customer service, this could be the role for you.

Applicants will be:  

  • experienced in the development of websites and digital communications channels
  • able to lead the production and distribution of high-quality communications
  • able to plan, implement and evaluate innovative community communications and marketing products within agreed budgets and timeframes
  • an excellent communicator, both verbal and written, with the ability to produce high level reports and presentations

Hume Libraries has an exciting opportunity for an experienced librarian/team leader to lead the Sunbury Library team. If you are a motivational leader with a passion for high quality library service provision coupled with a keen interest in community development, this may be the role for you. You will

  • Under the direction of the Coordinator Library Programs and People, coordinate and manage the operations of the Sunbury and Tullamarine Libraries ensuring the delivery of all localised library services are high quality, high performing, relevant and responsive to the needs of the local communities;
  • Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of library and learning activities for the Sunbury and Tullamarine communities with a whole of service outlook;
  • Collaborate with all members of the Library Management Team on the effective functioning and integration of technology, collections and promotions for the Sunbury and Tullamarine Libraries with a whole of service outlook.

Key Skills

  • Tertiary qualifications ensuring eligibility for professional membership of the Australian Library and Information Association and experience in public library operations, service delivery and library management systems;
  • Knowledge of and enthusiasm for working in modern public libraries and a demonstrated understanding of their role in the community;
  • Relevant experience in the management of library teams, including active supervision;
  • Proficiency in the use of all current library management systems, RFID technology, computer applications and software, electronic resources and digital devices.
