City of Newcastle (CN) is seeking a passionate and innovative Library Acquisitions and Vendor Specialist to lead the acquisition of Newcastle Libraries items across both the physical and elibrary collections. This critical role facilitates strategic library resource vendor relationships and thoroughly understands the contracts which underpin these arrangements.

With significant vendor contract, procurement and budgetary administrative responsibilities and it is essential the Library Acquisitions and Vendor Specialist accurately manages, reports and attributes capital and operational budget each financial year to these activities. A key focus of this role will be working collaboratively to support the development of sustainable community driven collections. As the successful candidate, you will have excellent communication skills, numeracy skills and attention to detail. You will be able to think on a strategic level plus foster positive relationships with vendors, partners and our internal team.

All Library positions include frontline customer service shifts across a 6 day (Monday to Saturday), day and evening roster.

The Role:

The Role:
 

In this role, you will assist with the maintenance and support of library systems, including the Library Management System (LIBERO), public access computers, RFID systems, print solutions, PC bookings, ancillary equipment etc.

You will communicate with internal and external stakeholders to troubleshoot and resolve systems issues in a timely and professional manner, providing recommendations for enhancements to the Team Leader Library Systems.

You will use your technical knowledge and skills to provide guidance to staff and customers and to develop and deliver staff training.

You will also actively contribute to the implementation of service improvement across the Library Service and to the Library Information Technology Strategic Plan.

This position will be based at Campsie and will require regular onsite visits to each of the nine branches within the Library Service.

About the role

We are seeking a creative and experienced people leader to join the Library Leadership Team and support the library’s marketing / communications, online engagement and diverse outreach programs.

We are looking for someone with experience in digital marketing and communications strategies, a passion for community engagement and program development and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.  

Your commencing salary is $97,964 - $112,301 p.a. + superannuation, depending on your experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Development and delivery of community focussed cultural and learning programs and activities for a diverse community
  • Active promotion and marketing of library services including development, managing and monitoring social media assets
  • Strategic planning, policy development and evaluation of services and the delivery of innovative services and the implementation of change
  • Producing high quality communications materials
  • Management of staff, including motivating and developing teams and performance management

Key Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in Library and Information Science recognised by ALIA (Australian Library Industry Association) or Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Marketing or a related discipline appropriate to the position with experience in Library Services, Creative Arts or Cultural Development.
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Class C Drivers Licence
  • Current COVID -19 vaccinations

About the Role

The City of Ryde has an exciting opportunity for an innovative and customer focused library professional to play a key role in the development and delivery of the City of Ryde Libraries community and cultural programs.

In this dynamic role, you will use your significant experience to plan, promote and deliver a diverse suite of high quality library programs for our community.  The primary focus of these programs will initially be for adults and seniors. You will also manage the provision and maintenance of the Community Information Database and associated directories to ensure accuracy and high quality.

About You

You have a positive, high energy approach and enjoy engaging with the local community. You're experienced in developing, promoting and delivering programs and activities suitable for a range of identified target groups including digital capability and literacy skills for current and emerging technologies.

In addition, you will also have:

  • Degree or Post Graduate Diploma in Library Science recognised by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA), or have degree level qualifications in a related area
  • Experience in the development, delivery, and promotion of library or similar cultural  programs and activities
  • Experience in the planning, promotion, delivery and evaluation of readers advisory services and programs including Author Talks
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to facilitate meetings with a wide range of stakeholders, prepare and deliver presentations to diverse groups
  • High level written communications skills
  • Knowledge of and enthusiasm for information technology and troubleshooting ability
  • Current Drivers Licence
  • Current Working with Children Check

Your commencing salary will be in the range $79,767 to  $89,042 p.a. + superannuation, dependent upon relevant skills and experience
