About the role

This role will see you provide support to branch staff, ensuring all services are provided in a professional and friendly manner and meet the diverse needs of the community. 

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Customer-focused service delivery to library clients
  • Delivery of events, programs, activities and outreach and specialist services
  • Supervision and allocation of workflows within a small team

Required experience & skills:

  • Qualifications as a librarian recognised by the Australian Library & Information Association (ALIA)

About the role:

First 5 Forever is an early literacy program delivered by public libraries and Indigenous Knowledge Centres on behalf of the State Library of Queensland with the primary aim of providing strong early literacy foundations for all Queensland children aged 0-5 years.

This position is suited to someone who is interested in children’s literature, songs and working with families. The role will involve assisting in planning, preparing, and delivering early literacy programs and activities. This can include cooking playdough, slime, and other messy play recipes when required. We’re looking for some who is creative, as they will be involved in designing posters, promotional materials and creating First 5 Forever library displays.

Council has an excellent opportunity for a Technology Support and Customer Service Officer to provide customer service to the general public and delivery of technology programs to the community.

This position will also assist the IT Development and Systems Officer with maintenance of the library’s integrated management system, library catalogue records and library IT equipment.

A formal library qualification is not essential, however, the incumbent should be able to provide some evidence of relevant experience and particular skills, for example:

  • Past employment in customer service.
  • Personal computer and keyboard skills.
  • Experience in using technology.

A current Police Check, no longer than six months old, along with a Working with Children Check is essential for this position, prior to employment.

What we can offer you

This permanent part time position attracts approximately $34.88 per hour working 21 hours per week. Days of week will depend on staff roster requirements. This position will also be required to work Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings on a rostered basis. In addition, superannuation is paid at 13%.
