About the role

Reporting to the Library Team Leader, you will be responsible for providing high quality customer-focused readers' services including reference, circulation and participation in the development and delivery of events and activities. 

Duties

  • Provide readers' services including information and circulation services
  • Participate in the delivery of events, programs and activities, outreach and specialist services
  • Actively participate in the delivery of library displays and regular programs for all age groups
  • Assess items for collection maintenance, treatment or withdrawal
  • Supervise a small team in providing services to library customers
  • Desk shifts as required at any branch of the Ku-ring-gai Library Service, including nights and weekends as required

Reporting to the Team Leader Creative Experience, the Creative Experience Support Officer is a new permanent part-time (20-hours) role based at the Burwood Library and Community Hub – an energetic and inspiring place located in the strategic centre of Burwood.  

About the role

In this role you will support the Creative Experience team in the activation of the Community Hub with a broad range of arts, lifelong learning, cultural, literacy, digital and creative programs.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Support the Team Leader Creative Experience in delivering a range of high quality innovative and creative events and programs through the Hub’s creative spaces, while providing an excellent customer experience to all attendees.
  • Assist the Team Leader Creative Experience in implementing a range of programs that promote and support the activation of the Hub, including working co-operatively with internal and external customers.
  • Assist the Creative Experience Team to establish and maintain a Calendar of Events and social media outputs in relation to creative programming at the Hub.
  • Assisting the Creative Experience Team in evaluating and reporting on the performance of programs provided through the Hub, which can be used as a tool to drive continuous improvement.
  • Perform a range of general library duties, including, but not limited to, shelving, tidying and maintenance of the Community Hub environment.
  • Actively participate as a member of the Creative Experience Team by constructively contributing ideas to improve services and work processes through team meetings and undertaking training and development opportunities to improve skills and knowledge.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have experience in supporting innovative programming in one or more of the specialised areas of creative technologies, space activation, studio production, and/or multi-arts forms for diverse audiences. General knowledge of STEAM resources and tools to support learning or a willingness to cultivate such knowledge is desirable.

You will bring exceptional interpersonal and customer skills to support the delivery of creative programs and events.

The successful candidate must have high level digital skills, including experience with interactive, mobile and social media platforms, as well as trouble shooting skills in these areas.

Previous experience in a public library setting is also desirable as the role will participate in the Library and Community Hub Customer Care Roster, including weekend work and some evening. This role follows a Tuesday to Saturday roster, four hours a day.

A Working with Children Check is also required for this role.

Reporting to the Executive Manager Library and Family Services, in this role you will lead the delivery of library programs and events that reflect community interests, priorities, learning and growth.   • Implement actions to promote our library service as a place that embraces and tells the stories of Darwin's cultural diversity, including recognising and celebrating Aboriginal stories and history that relate to Larrakia people.
