A bit about the role
Education and Youth Librarians develop and deliver programming to children and young people (aged 5-18 years) across the library service. Programs include regular after-school activities, as well as larger special events, designed to support learning, a love of reading and social connection. These positions are also responsible for managing the Young Adult collections at each library branch and for promoting community engagement with these collections via in branch displays and programming, outreach activities and social media.

A further key focus of the Education and Youth Librarian role involves building and maintaining partnerships with internal council partners, local schools and community organisations to develop innovative offerings for the Wyndham Community and promote library participation by young people.

In addition to the duties above, you will be rostered for regular customer service shifts and work on a variety of projects at your home library branch.

During the current COVID-19 pandemic, you will also be working from home for part of your week, including delivering programs online.

When weekend opening of our library branches resumes, you will also be required to work occasional Saturday morning customer service shifts. Some events and programs will require occasional evening or weekend work and a willingness to vary your schedule from time-to-time is essential.

What you’ll deliver

  • Quality educational and recreational programs and collections for 5-18-year-olds
