We are seeking an energetic community focused Librarian with a passion for Digital Literacy and Collections. Reporting to the Team Leader Learning Experience, the Digital Services Librarian is a 28-hour per week permanent part time role based at the Burwood Library and Community Hub – an attractive and vibrant workplace located in the centre of Burwood.

This maps out an ambitious and exciting agenda that will guide our staff to strengthen the Burwood Community by supporting literacy, digital connection, creativity and life-long education.

About the role
In this role you will play a major role in the development and delivery of the digital library. You will also design and deliver innovative programmes and training to support staff and our communities in improving their digital skills and increasing the use of digital resources. Overseeing the digital communication to our communities via social media, eNewsletter and library website is also an important part of this role.
Key accountabilities include:
a. Developing and managing the library’s digital collection.
b. Developing and managing the library’s reference collection
c. Promoting and maintaining communication of resources and services to an online audience via social media, eNewsletter and the library’s website.
d. Supporting staff and customers in using digital services and digital devices.
e. Participating in the service point roster system, including evening and weekend work and perform the role of shift supervisor, as required.
We’re looking for someone who will embrace our team culture which is collaborative, friendly and positive. You should be passionate about digital literacy and libraries, and be committed to innovation and creativity.
To be successful in this role you will have experience in reporting, providing expert advice and supporting training and programmes regarding digital collections, online resources and related technologies. You should be comfortable with social media communication, and experience in web design and maintenance is highly desirable.
You will bring exceptional communication, interpersonal and high level organisational skills. It is also important to have the ability to think critically and analytically. The successful candidate must have a degree in library information recognised by ALIA or a related discipline with contemporary experience in a similar role.
Previous experience in a public library setting is also desirable as the role will participate in the Library and Community Hub Customer Care Roster, including some evening and weekend work. The role works 28 hours per week, days and hours of work are negotiable. A Working with Children Check is also required for this role.
