About Central West Libraries

Central West Libraries is a regional library services located across the Central Tablelands and Western Slopes of NSW. Established in 1958 the Library encompasses the Local Government areas of Blayney, Cabonne, Cowra, Forbes, and Orange. The Libraries support and administrative units are located in the Orange City Library building. The Library service covers an area of 15,348 square km and serves a population of 86,113.

About the role

Reporting to the Manager Central West Libraries this position is responsible for the development and delivery of high quality collections services and technology functions across all branches of Central West Libraries. This includes:

  • Developing and monitoring the Central West Libraries collections budget
  • Developing and maintaining strategic documentation, policies and procedures
  • Providing support services and training for all Central West Libraries staff
  • Being responsible for the operation and development of the Library Management System (LMS) and other service wide digital platforms
  • Managing and developing staff through implementation of Council’s human resource management systems, policies and procedures

So what do you need?

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • Qualifications as a Librarian recognised by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) or equivalent
  • Experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills that promotes high team performance
  • Demonstrated understanding of current trends and future directions in contemporary public library operations,
  • High level digital literacy skills in the use of a variety of technology
  • Class C Drivers Licence
  • Current NSW Working with Children Check
