We’re seeking an approachable and people centric individual who is passionate about providing high level customer service and holds a genuine interest in delivering local and family history services. Central to this will be a focus on sharing, conserving, and interpreting the unique history of the Barossa Valley and the broader region. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team and make a positive impact within the Barossa community.

Your exceptional customer service and people skills will see you:

  • Providing high-quality, friendly customer service across our library network.
  • Providing clear and logical thinking and collaborative team skills with a genuine interest in local and family history.
  • Undertaking local and family history research with an ability to apply your problem solving techniques.
  • Undertaking a range of public library duties, including but not limited to, responding to customer enquiries, shelving,
  • and item processing.
  • Contributing to the smooth operation of library services with a positive nature and great communication skills to build
  • strong relationships and support active engagement with the community.
  • Working across all branches of the Barossa Library within the Council region.
  • To be successful in this role you will require:
  • Exceptional customer service skills with knowledge of customer service principles
  • Established ICT skills with trouble shooting ability and knowledge of the internet, social media and office equipment in
  • order to undertake research and assist customers.
  • Working knowledge of contemporary library operations and services.
  • Ability to liaise with customers, colleagues and members of the community with patience and empathy.
  • An interest in local and family history research.

This is a permanent part-time position (16 hours per week + rostered 3 hour weekend shift every 4-6 weeks), at General Officer Level 2, as per The Barossa Council Enterprise Agreement 2022.
