Library Officer

Sunshine Coast Council is seeking an enthusiastic and talented Library Officer to deliver a warm and welcoming customer experience for our community

$77K – $83K Total Remuneration Package

$68K – $74K Base Salary

Location: Caloundra

Vacancy No: 5172

Temporary/Max Term - Full-time

About the Role

Arts, Heritage and Libraries branch role is to enrich the lives of residents and visitors by providing arts and cultural leadership, opportunities, knowledge, development, connections and experience.

We are seeking a Library Officer to help drive the essential day-to-day operations of the library, to deliver outstanding service to customers, champion all library services and resources, and contribute to the development and continuous improvement of Sunshine Coast Libraries.

Key duties include:

  • Provide outstanding customer service to Sunshine Coast Council Libraries customers.
  • Provide support and guidance to other employees and volunteers engaged in learning opportunities such as familiarisation with the library management system, library catalogue and other business processes and procedures.
  • Promote and deliver a range of library programs including story time, lifelong learning sessions, technology sessions, outreach and events.
  • Assist with the retail presentation of libraries ensuring they remain fresh and modern looking places.
  • Perform library duties such as shelving, issues, returns and collection maintenance.

About you

You are someone who can provide guidance and support to our community, and are genuinely passionate about library services, reading and literature.

As a minimum requirement of this role, you will have:

  • A Certificate III in Library and Information Services or equivalent qualification/experience. 
  • Enthusiasm surrounding new technology, including the ability learn quickly and willingness to teach others.
  • Highly developed communication skills, including the ability to engage with people of all different ages and backgrounds.
  • Ability to present engaging group sessions to adults, and young people and families.
  • A commitment to continuous learning, innovative thinking and flexibility.

Pre-Employment Medical Required

Essential to your success is physical agility and the level of fitness, strength and dexterity to carry out labouring and frequent heavy lifting & bending. As such, appointment to this position is subject to completion of a pre-employment medical assessment.
