Library Support Officer

  • Position: Library Support Officer
  • Status: Casual
  • Salary from: $39.12 per hour plus Superannuation.
  • Location: Multiple locations across Logan City.

We have an exciting opportunity for multiple Casual Library Support Officers to join the Libraries and Creative Industries Branch within the Council.

In this role, you will assist the Regional Librarian/Digital Services Librarian in the provision of consistently exception customer service to library customers.

Position Responsibilities will include.

  • Assisting library customers in the use of library facilities, services and equipment
  • Undertake routine library duties and tasks
  • Providing a high levels of customer service
  • Contribute to individual and team planning, development and performance evaluation

Qualification, knowledge, skills and experience

  • Literacy and general education standards as associated with secondary school leaving levels and/or commercial training complemented by relevant work experience.
  • As part of the functions of this position, the incumbent must meet the requirements of the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000 (the Act), which includes the requirement to hold a current Blue Card for working with children. A failure to meet this or other requirements of the Act may result in a failure to secure and maintain employment with Council.
  • Applicants must undergo a pre-employment functional assessment and be assessed as fit to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position.
  • Depending on operational requirements, varying rosters and hours will apply, including Saturday work and some evening work up to 8pm Tuesdays or Thursdays.
  • Casual Library Support Officers are employed on a casual day-to-day basis and will be required to work a variable spread of hours (up to a maximum of 36.25 hours per week), Monday to Saturday as required to meet operational need.
  • Library staff may be required to rotate within the Branch to work within other Libraries to enable Council to meet its operational requirements in those Libraries.
