About the opportunity

Blacktown City Libraries is seeking two energetic, highly motivated, and customer-focused part-time Library Technicians to join our Customer Service team at the Mount Druitt Library Hub:

  • 1 x Permanent, part-time - 20 hours per week
  • 1 x Permanent, part-time - 17.5 hours per week.

The successful applicants will be highly proficient in the delivery of outstanding customer service, have knowledge of current library and technology trends and be willing to participate in delivering library programs and activities. If you are proactive in the areas of customer service and teamwork and enjoy a busy and varied work environment, we would like to hear from you.

Qualifications and experience


  • Library Technician Diploma, Associate Diploma or equivalent, as recognised by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA)
  • Previous library experience
  • Demonstrated strong commitment to a customer-focused service
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment and independently
  • Well-developed problem-solving skills
  • Relevant computer skills
  • Current class C driver’s licence
  • Working with Children Check number.


  • First aid certification
  • Ability to speak a community language.

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • A competitive salary range of $1,130.10 - $1,265.70 (Grade 5) per week will be offered based on skills, qualifications and experience
  • 35 hour working week 
  • Opportunity to participate in Council's flex time arrangement
