Opportunity exists for a qualified and experienced Librarian to provide Local Studies services to the community.

Local Studies Librarian

  • Salary $80,249.50 - $93,089.84  p/a + super
  • Tertiary qualifications and experience essential
  • Working with Children clearance
  • 35 hours per week spread over 7 days including evenings & weekends

Located 16 kms north of the Sydney CBD, the Ku-ring-gai area covers 84km2, is home to 124,000 residents and is set in one of New South Wales' most attractive natural environments.

Reporting to the Information Services Team Leader, your duties will include, but are not limited to:

    • Assisting in the development, implementation and review of the training of customers and staff in the effective use of information tools and technologies for local studies research
    • Promoting an understanding of resources held in the Local studies, family history and archival collections
    • Exceptional customer - focused service delivery to library clients
    • Promote current library and digital technologies
    • Delivery of programs and events

Required experience & skills:

  • Degree/Graduate Diploma in Librarianship/Information Science/Archives/Museum Studies or a similar field
  • Experience in collaborative team work with the ability to build and maintain relationships with staff and key stakeholders
  • Demonstrated skills in resource allocation and library information management systems
  • Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
  • Friendly and approachable nature
