About the City of Ryde Libraries

The City of Ryde library service comprises of five branches at Ryde, North Ryde, Eastwood, West Ryde and Gladesville as well as a significant online library. Our libraries are places of social inclusion where members of our community borrow items for leisure and lifelong learning, learn about new technology, participate in activities, attend children’s and adults programs, and carry out research for school assignments or business projects. They are lively, busy places and serve a culturally diverse customer base. 

About the Role

In this position you will lead the lending services function of the library and co-ordinate the front-line customer service staff within teams and/or in other teams as required. You will manage the service desk and customer experience to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and seek assistance from specialist library staff as required. You will ensure a high standard of appearance, maintenance and safety of the facility. In the position you will be required to work Monday to Friday including evening shifts and will include some rostered weekend work.

About You

  • a degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent as recognised by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) or a related university degree coupled with a TAFE Diploma in Library and Information Services
  • current Working with Children check
  • Class C Drivers Licence
  • experience in the delivery of a high level public library and information service in a cross cultural customer service environment.
  • proven people management and supervisory experience (minimum 2 years) in a public library or similar customer focussed environment, including the supervision and performance management of staff.
  • proven high level communication and interpersonal skills including report writing, procedure development, problem solving, negotiation and effective complaints handling skills and experience.
  • experience in process improvement and leading/implementing change.
  • understanding of current issues and trends in the library industry.
  • knowledge of EEO principles, Privacy and Information Act.

Your commencing salary would be $83,042.63 - $92,928.66 p.a. (plus Superannuation) depending on your experience and qualifications.
