To be the peak body for all public libraries in Australia that is recognised by all levels of government.


To represent, advocate for and support the interests of Australia’s public libraries


Public Libraries Australia Ltd’s Constitution establishes it for the purposes of:

  1. representing public libraries at a national level
  2. providing advocacy for public libraries
  3. lobbying the Federal Government on behalf of public libraries, and
  4. being the voice of Australian public libraries
