About the role

In your new role, you will be part of a customer focused team that supports library and information services to Hornsby Shire community by assisting with the provision of efficient and effective information and circulation services.
This is an operational position that relies heavily on teamwork and requires that work be prioritised according to customer need.

The Customer Services  Library Officer position has the following major components:

About you

The Customer Services  Library Officer position requires an enthusiastic, customer oriented person who has well developed communication and organisational skills. Competion of  the Diploma in Library and Information Studies accepted by the Australian Library and Information Association is the qualification for the position. The ability to be an effective member of a team is critical to the success of this role as is accuracy and attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.

The Customer Services Library Officer  is primarily based at the Hornsby Library and may be required to work at other branch libraries.

About the role

Inner West Council are looking for a candidate to deliver Local History and Archive services across the Inner West Council as part of the Community History team. Key functions include high quality customer service, provision of local history and heritage reference and information enquiries, utilising a range of databases and technology for research and customer enquiries, archives and collection management, develop and deliver history programming and exhibitions for all ages throughout the year – within library spaces and across other sites across the LGA, , and participating in building professional relationships and community engagement with history and heritage stakeholders. This role also includes the provision of services to customers, at library service desks.

This position is required to work 35 hours per week with expectation of weekend and evening work. There is also a requirement to work across eight Inner West Libraries and the position participates in a rotation system of locations.

Remuneration

$65,861.64 - $73,278.92 + 11% Superannuation

Some of the required skills, experience and qualifications 

  1. Relevant qualifications Diploma or Degree in Library Practice (TAFE), History or Museum & Galleries or related field and or equivalent experience
  2. Knowledge of history and heritage reference, information, and library services
  3. Demonstrated experience delivering public programs for diverse audiences in a public library, cultural institution and outdoor settings
  4. Experience and understanding of a range of software and technology including Microsoft Office, library management systems, history databases, library eResources, digital collections and the digitisation process
  5. Proven team player and a strong commitment to excellence in customer service and community engagement
  6. Class C drivers' licence

Lalor Library is seeking a temporary full-time Officer RLC to backfill a secondment for up to 12 months.  The Officer is required to deliver story time sessions to young patrons while actively contributing to a positive team environment and to the Library’s role as a place for reading, learning and meeting.

About You

Our Library Officers provide a high standard of service to Yarra Plenty Regional Library customers and to the wider community.  The ideal candidate will demonstrate a courteous and effective communication style, with the ability to interact with both children and their parents and across a diverse multicultural community.  The successful incumbent will provide a high level of customer focus and will actively encourage enthusiasm for reading in children.

About the opportunity

This opportunity is based in our Community Learning team. You will work closely with library information specialists to lead and participate in projects to improve Blacktown City Libraries' web presence. You will develop and engage the community with online programs responsive to their needs.

This role focuses on the provision of quality reference and information services together with promoting innovation by exploring new digital platforms and web presence services. 

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • Degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent as recognised by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). Eligible for professional membership of ALIA
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering library programs including multimedia content
  • Demonstrated strong commitment to a customer-focused service
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and proven problem-solving and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Proficient user of online resources including databases
  • Proficient user of existing and new technologies
  • Demonstrated skill and experience in web analytics (e.g. Google Analytics) and feeding results into future system iterations and information architecture
  • Current class ‘C’ driver’s license

Remuneration and benefits

The role:
We are looking for a creative, self-motivated and innovative digital marketing specialist, with copywriting experience to create original content to connect our diverse community with our library programs, collections and services. You will work independently and collaboratively in a supportive team environment.

You will be based at Campsie Library on a permanent full-time basis, 35 hours per week, working Monday to Friday, 8.30am-5.00pm. You may be required to work an evening shift with a starting time of 12.00pm and finishing at 8.00pm, due to staff shortages. Once trained and suitably skilled to do so, the Manager may approve the incumbent to work from home under Council’s Working From Home Policy on the understanding that they may be called in at short notice to fill a staff shortage within the service. 

Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Plan, implement and evaluate digital marketing strategies for our Library Service.
  • Regularly update content for the library's website, social media and eNewsletter, ensuring content is targeted to the Canterbury-Bankstown community.

  • Directing the activities of the team and identifying appropriate training and development opportunities.

About you:

To be considered for this position, you must have or are significantly progressing towards a relevant tertiary qualification in Library and/or Museum/Heritage studies (or equivalent), or relevant experience in an equivalent role. 

Due to the nature of the duties, you will also need to have highly developed stakeholder communication and administrative skills, and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive matters.

Reporting to the Coordinator Library Operations, the Library Weekend Team Leader will be responsible for the effective delivery of library services on weekends, providing support for the five branch library team leaders and weekend staff to ensure that visitors to the Library receive the same high level of service as weekday visitors.

Greater Dandenong Libraries are pleased to present Junior opportunities for local youth, aged between 16-20 years of age, who live, study, or have a significant connection to the City of Greater Dandenong. 

The Casual Junior Library Service Officers works within the Community Arts, Culture and Library Services Department, and at both Springvale and Dandenong Library sites.

The primary objectives of the position are to:

  • Support and assist the community to access and use Library services and resources.
  • Contribute to the delivery of excellent customer service through Greater Dandenong’s Library Services
  • Promotion of library services, resources, and programs to the Greater Dandenong Community

About you

The successful applicant will bring a passion for providing excellent customer service, promoting literacy and have experience working in a culturally and linguistically diverse and busy environments. An understanding and demonstrated experience of current technologies, and the willingness to embrace and explore emerging technologies relevant to libraries, is essential.

About the role

Due to a recent resignation in our Library team, we have an opportunity for a qualified Librarian to join our Information Librarians team in a permanent full-time capacity (35 hours per week).

The Information Librarian works within the Community Arts, Culture and Library Services Department at both Springvale and Dandenong Library sites.

The role’s key responsibilities include providing effective and efficient library and information services to all Library users and our diverse community. Additional responsibilities include supervising front of house Library Services team to provide a responsive and flexible service, support and deliver high-quality library programs to promote learning, literacy, reading and social inclusion, and support collection maintenance and development activities.

Regular evening and weekend shifts are compulsory.

About you

The successful applicant will have demonstrated knowledge of information service provision to people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, experience in staff supervision in a library environment, experience in conducting staff and/or public training programs, be a committed, considerate, and pro-active team member, and have a passion for supporting and engaging with the community. Excellent IT skills are also an advantage.

To coordinate the day-to-day operations of public and school library and information services at Nhulunbuy Community Library to ensure the delivery of effective library services for the community in partnership with Nhulunbuy High School.
