The Wagga Wagga City Library has entered an exciting period of development where we are expanding and increasing our services to the community. Our standalone library service will be delivered at the current Civic Centre location and a new agile library service to the suburban neighbourhoods and rural village communities across the Wagga Wagga Local Government Area.

With the expansion of services to our community, we require a highly skilled, passionate, and high performing leader to join the Wagga Wagga City Library team in the role of Library Services Manager with qualifications in Librarianship e.g. Bachelor of Information Studies, Graduate Diploma of Information Studies, or Master of Information Studies.

Your new role:
The Wagga City Library is seeking a Manager with exceptional strategic, management and leadership skills. This position is responsible for leading a high performing team in the management, administration, and strategic development of the Wagga Wagga City Library service to ensure the delivery of innovative, timely and best practice library services to our community.

Candidates will need to demonstrate extensive experience in effectively managing the delivery of a library and information service. Highly developed skills are also required in leadership, strategic planning, communication, financial management, and stakeholder engagement. The capacity to develop an ambitious, innovative, and ethical vision for the Library will be essential.

About the role

We are looking for a Marketing and Promotions Officer (Digital) to co-ordinate and support library promotions and marketing across the City of Ryde Libraries. The position is located in the Library at Top Ryde but will work with Council’s Communications team to create and update innovative, high quality graphic design solutions for web and print to increase the awareness and community’s engagement with our programs, collections and services.

The successful applicant will have a solid understanding of communicating for a diverse community as well as experience with social media and digital marketing. With strong interpersonal skills and knowledge of different communication channels, the Marketing and Promotions Officer (Digital) will be a key team member in facilitating effective marketing to the community.

Salary: $75,684.78 to $87,037.50 (pro-rata) plus superannuation (dependent on skills and experience)

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver promotional and marketing materials for the Library to increase awareness of the full range of services, collections, programs and initiatives for a diverse community, and associated administrative tasks
  • To work with Council’s Communications team to create and update innovative, high quality graphic design solutions for web and print
  • To prepare, review and upload visual content for Council’s websites ensuring alignment with Council's visual and written style guides
  • To proactively seek new initiatives to improve City of Ryde Libraries’ online presence

Key requirements

  • Appropriate tertiary qualification in Graphic Design, Web Design, Multimedia, Communications or relevant field with experience working in a similar role
  • Experience creating and managing content for digital and print publications
  • Experience in website maintenance
  • Experience in social media marketing
  • Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Indesign and Illustrator
  • Advanced skills and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of website content management systems
  • High-level written and verbal communication skills with excellent website writing and editing skills for online audiences, including the ability to apply corporate style and use plain English

About our opportunity

We are currently seeking an Operations Officer based at North Lakes Library!

In this role, you will assist with overseeing the Moreton Bay Region Libraries casuals’ team, including managing and prioritising branch requests, deployment of team members, maintenance of rosters and reconciliation of placements. You will also oversee the daily operations of the libraries courier function providing supervisions and support to the team; roster and prioritise work tasks to ensure service delivery.

You will contribute to the development and review of library processes and provide support to branch services in the development and delivery of operational projects and initiatives.

About you

We are looking for a natural leader who is passionate about providing an exceptional service to customers!

You will have experience in supervising team members in day to day library operations including rostering and the ability to effectively develop the library skillset of your team members.

You will also be experienced and knowledgeable in Public Library service delivery, including in the delivery of collections, programs, reference and reader advisory services. You will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrating an ability to engage constructively and support customers to meet their needs.

As the library environment can be fast paced and is heavily customer focused, you will be able to:

About the position

  • The Trainee Certificate IV Library & Information position will work as part of a team to deliver library services with an emphasis on customer service, returning and shelving of library stock, and assisting with library programs.
  • Have the opportunity to earn while you learn - Traineeship rates apply.
  • This Traineeship is an entry level training program for people seeking employment as a Library Assistant.
  • This is a temporary full-time 18-month Traineeship opportunity, based at the Toowoomba City Library.

How to be successful in this position - Success Criteria

You will need:

  1. The mandatory qualification(s), training and/or experience, as outlined under the 'Position Success Criteria' in the Position Description (attached).
  2. Ability to commit to the full Traineeship program and competently complete course work and assessment required to complete the Certificate IV within specified time-frames.
  3. Possess an interest in pursuing a career within the library field.
  4. Ability to accurately follow directions in a timely manner.
  5. Ability to complete daily tasks neatly and correctly using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office suite.
  6. Basic written and oral communication and numeracy skills.
  7. Ability to provide quality customer service including the provision of accurate timely advice in a helpful and supportive manner.
  8. Understanding of and Commitment to Council’s Organisational Value and Behaviour of 'Teamwork'.
