About the opportunity

This is an exciting permanent, full-time opportunity for a suitably experienced and qualified para-professional to work within Blacktown City Libraries Community Learning team.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service with a focus on information services and digital literacy. Will be required to have excellent communication skills to establish and maintain strong working relationships with all key stakeholders.

The successful applicant will:

  • Have sound knowledge of information resources and collections both digital and physical
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to work in a high-functioning team and possess excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills.

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • Library Technician Diploma, Associate Diploma or equivalent, as recognised by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA)
  • Previous library experience
  • Demonstrated strong commitment to a customer focused service
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment and independently
  • Well-developed problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated high level digital literacy.

Desirable:

  • Current class C driver’s licence
  • First aid certification
  • Ability to speak a community language.

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • Entry level for this position is $1,130.10 per week
  • 35 hour working week 
  • Opportunity to participate in Council's flex-time arrangement
  • Employee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 9.5% employer superannuation contribution payable to the Local Government Superannuation Scheme, Fitness Passport and gym membership discounts, and social clubs.
