The Opportunity

We are looking a suitably experienced, enthusiastic and community focused library officer to join our Community and School library on a Part-time basis. The position will be responsible for assisting with the delivery of public library services that meet the needs of the patrons in a joint use library, with particular emphasis on providing high quality customer service to those patrons.  This role is responsible for:

  • Ensuring effective delivery of community library programs and functions with some late afternoon and weekend work required;
  • Undertaking Library administrative and customer service related tasks (including cashiering);
  • Maintaining, storing and caring for the library collection with mindful adherence to cataloguing and shelving procedures;
  • Efficiently operating the Library Management System to manage library memberships, create reports and record information;
  • Assisting patrons with Inter-Library loan requests and forwarding requests on to the Senior Library Officer for actioning;
  • Creating library displays and promoting new resources;
  • Providing assistance as required to ensure the success of library programs such as Story Time, Rhyme Time, other community programs, Kimberley Writers Festival and visiting authors;
  • Support the Manager and work with other library staff to ensure services are delivered in conjunction with State Library of WA policy and procedures.

A WA Working with Children Check are essential for this role, a formal library qualification and or formal qualifications in community development, education or support work are highly desirable.

Location and Remuneration Package

The role will be based from the School and Community Library in Kununurra.

An attractive remuneration package will include base salary, East Kimberley Allowances, professional development, location allowance and 11.5% Superannuation.

This role is part time with a remuneration package (inclusive of superannuation) ranging between $54,095 to $56,816 (pro-rata, dependent on skills and experience) per annum.
