About us
Connected Libraries are located in the City of Casey which is one of Victoria’s largest, fastest growing and most diverse municipalities. We have 5 Libraries, a Library Lounge and 3 sets of 24/7 library lockers.
We deliver services for the more than 392,000 residents who call Casey home. Bunjil Place Library is in Narre Warren (35km from CBD), the library is within walking distance of one of Australia’s largest shopping centres – Westfield Fountain Gate.
About the role
You will play a key role in developing and delivering our new library plan objectives, related to children and youth services.
Your leadership will inspire and motivate your team to develop and deliver programs focused on literacy, STEAM, learning and creativity – for toddlers through to teens.
In addition to specialising in children and youth, you will also provide an exceptional customer experience on the library floor, supporting our community’s diverse needs.
You will actively promote and deliver children and youth services to the community outside the walls of the library, whilst building strong relationships with key stakeholders including Bunjil Place precinct staff, Wilson Botanic Park, Kindergartens and Schools.
Hours
Monday 8.45am – 4.45pm, Tuesday 1.15pm – 9.15pm, Wednesday 10am – 6pm, Thursday 9am – 5pm. Friday 9am – 5pm. 1 Saturday in 4 and 1 Sunday in 8.
You will have:
- Library qualifications conferring eligibility for professional membership of the Australian Library and Information Association
- OR lesser formal qualifications with relevant work skills and experience commensurate with the requirements of the work required
- High level customer service skills
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate with all ages, across all levels of the community
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet organisational strategic outcomes
- Knowledge of collection management processes with knowledge of children’s literature, language and literacy development
- Proven experience developing and delivering effective and efficient Children and Youth programs for to 0 to 18 years within either the library sector or teaching
- Proven leadership experience with a demonstrated ability to lead, inspire and motivate staff within a team environment
- Relevant experience in a public library environment is desirable
- Driver’s licence essential
- Working with Children Check.
