About the position

Council’s Arts & Culture Department is looking for a qualified Collections Librarian committed to providing excellent customer and information services to the community.  The role will be responsible for supporting the cataloguing of items, including the new Library Of Things.  

The main responsibilities will include: 

  • Proving an accurate, quality library catalogue that meets international standards.
  • Assisting with the development of the Library's lending collection to reflect community interest and in accordance with the Collection Development guidelines.
  • Engaging with the community in the libraries to deliver and promote library services ad foster an inclusive, welcoming community library service.

This is a permanent part time role working 30.4 hours per week. Working days are flexible, however you will be required to work one Saturday a fortnight and be located at our Langwarrin location on a Thursday and Friday to support the team.

About you

  • Professional qualification in Information Management as defined by ALIA;
  • Experience in using latest cataloguing tools; MARC, DDC, AACR2, RDA and LCSH;
  • Experience in using latest archiving tools; and
  • Experience with cataloguing all formats including printed work, audio visual and electronic resources for a public library catalogue.

This position is a Band 5 currently remunerated at $80,750.44 (pro rata for part time) per annum, plus superannuation. Overtime will also be paid as required.
