City of Darwin operates four (4) libraries across the municipality: City (Civic Centre), Nightcliff, Karama and Casuarina. Our libraries are open throughout the day Monday to Friday, Saturday mornings with Casuarina library also open on a Sunday afternoon.
We are looking for community focused individuals who are friendly, energetic, quick to learn, able to engage with small groups and ICT savvy to join our team. We aim to employ a pool of casuals who are available on short notice and have time during the week where they are able to provide shift coverage when our permanent team members are on leave or out of action or for extra coverage over the busy school holidays breaks.
What do we ask our library assistants to do?
- Ensure library users are provided with a positive, proactive and responsive customer service experience by:
- engaging, supporting and connecting library users with services, activities and resources including e-books.
- assisting with general enquiries and the use of various IT resources and self-serve technologies.
- explain procedures and regulations to library users.
- Library assistants are also expected to assist with:
- The delivery of a range of library programs and events including story times.
- Maintaining the order of library collections through shelving, sorting and shelf reading
- General presentation of the library environment.
What do we need you to have?
- A current Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card)
- Possession of a Class C Drivers licence
- Flexibility to work Monday to Friday with possibility to work on week-ends and evenings
- Flexibility to work at multiple library & Outreach locations
- Available for all of December & January
