The work pattern is fixed:
- Tuesday 9-5 with one hour break
- Wednesday 1-8 with one hour break
- Thursday 9-5 with one hour break
- Fortnightly Saturday 10-12
Remuneration: Band 4L salary from $ 78,402.48per annum (pro-rata) plus superannuation
Location: Hoppers Crossing based but may occasionally be required to work across branches
About the role
As a member of the Library Operations team, this position is responsible for delivering high-quality customer service and providing reference and information support to library patrons across Wyndham City Libraries. Reporting to the Library Coordinator, you will perform a range of frontline library services including responding to reference enquiries, supporting patrons with technology, and contributing to the day-to-day operations of the library. This role plays a key part in ensuring a welcoming, inclusive, and well-functioning library environment for the community.
This role sits within the Libraries and Community Learning Department in the City Life Directorate. The unit is responsible for delivering accessible, community-focused library services that support lifelong learning, digital inclusion, and community connection.
Working as part of a collaborative and supportive team, you will contribute to achieving the Wyndham City Libraries Business Plan outcomes. When rostered as the senior staff member on duty, you may take responsibility for front desk operations and provide guidance to other staff.
Utilising your strong customer service, communication, and IT troubleshooting skills will be pivotal to your success, as you assist a diverse range of community members with their information and technology needs.
This role offers flexibility, with rostered shifts across library locations and the ability to accommodate part-time or job share arrangements where operationally feasible.
Weekend work is required as part of the roster, and travel between library branches within the municipality is expected.
What your day will look like
- Providing reference and information services to library patrons
- Assisting customers with technology, including basic troubleshooting and digital support
- Delivering excellent front desk service, including circulation and enquiries
- Supporting daily library operations such as shelving, returns, and maintaining presentation standards
- Promoting library collections, programs, and services to the community
What you will bring
- Diploma of Library and Information Services (or equivalent) or substantial relevant experience
- Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to engage with diverse communities
- Experience in providing IT support and assisting users with digital technologies
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- Current Working with Children Check
