Salary: From $81,802 per annum + 12% superannuation

Randwick City Council is an innovative and progressive Council committed to serving our vibrant community on the eastern beaches of Sydney. Our Library Children and Youth Services Team is seeking a Youth Library Officer. 

Purpose:

The Youth Library Officer engages young people with the library by developing, delivering, and promoting programs, activities, and collections that support their interests and learning needs.  

About the role: 

The Youth Library Officer is a customer-facing role responsible for the planning, delivery and evaluation of programs for young people aged 12–25, working in collaboration with the Children and Youth Services Librarian and across library teams. The role contributes to the development and provision of the library’s Young Adult collection, ensuring resources reflect the emerging needs and interests of the target audience.

The Youth Library Officer is also involved in identifying and responding to emerging community needs and trends, supporting the delivery of targeted services and resources, as well as engaging with young people across the community and providing service to library customers across all branches.

About you:

  • You hold a Diploma in Library and Information Science (or equivalent) and have experience supporting the delivery of programs that encourage lifelong learning, social inclusion and recreation.
  • You’re confident working with a diverse community of young people and have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • You value inclusion and have a strong understanding of library services for diverse groups of young people, informed by awareness of their evolving needs, current trends and a familiarity with young adult fiction.
