Library & Customer Service Officer - Mulwala

 Based in Mulwala, but will work across the Federation Council area

  • Part-time – Approximately 17 hours per fortnight

The opportunity

To deliver excellent library services and council related customer service. It is a dynamic and fundamental role within the organisation, that will focus on promoting a professional and positive image of Council and meeting the needs of customers at all times.

In this role you will, but not limited to:

  • Circulation & Advisory: Deliver circulation, information services, and personalised reading recommendations to library patrons.
  • Collection Management: Handle the processing, shelving, and organisation of stock to maintain an accessible collection.
  • Program Delivery: Facilitate library events including story time, school holiday programs, and author talks.
  • Customer Excellence: Provide exceptional face to face, phone, and online service as a champion of Council’s Charter.
  • Digital Support: Assist customers with computer programs, internet navigation, and the use of office hardware.
  • Financial Administration: Accurately process payments, receipt library fees, and perform daily cash balancing and deposits.
  • Community Engagement: Prepare engaging library displays and foster relationships with community groups and volunteers.
  • Logistics & Loans: Coordinate inter branch and inter library loans to ensure wide resource accessibility.
  • Facility Management: Maintain public facing areas and manage bookings for Council halls and meeting rooms.
  • Information Research: Provide specialised assistance with Family and Local History inquiries and general information requests.
  • Council Collaboration: Partner with other Council business units and the Riverina Regional Library to deliver initiatives.
  • Professional Compliance: Complete all required training and perform duties in line with organisational skill requirements.

Essential key criteria to be addressed in applications

  • Hold a Certificate III Library Services, Business Administration or related field or relevant experience.
  • Hold a valid NSW Working with Children Check and Police Check
  • Hold a current and valid class "C" driver's licence
  • Demonstrated knowledge of library operations, library services and principles of customer service
  • Demonstrated good oral and written communication skills with an ability to communicate in a courteous and effective manner
  • Demonstrated ability to provide a high level of service and display professionalism when interacting with a diverse range of customers and stakeholders

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Council’s policies and conditions of employment.  The salary is commencing at $33.78 per hour with progression up to $37.29 per hour dependent upon skills and experience.
