The City of Canterbury Bankstown is one of the largest Council’s in NSW with the most culturally, socially and economically diverse communities in Sydney. We deliver 21 key services such as childcare, waste collection, parks maintenance, libraries, community facilities and aquatic centres to over 370,000 residents. 

The role

Contribute in day-to-day activities and operations of the library team to meet customer requirements and promote library services to the community. 
We are excited to announce multiple opportunities for passionate individuals to join our Library team! We currently have five positions available across five libraries:


Full-Time positions (35 hours per week) at Chester Hill Library and Riverwood Library.
Part-Time positions at Lakemba Library (21 hours per week) and Greenacre Library (14 hours per week).
Additionally, we have a Part-Time position available at Earlwood Library, offering 12 hours per week.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Deliver high quality customer focussed and professional service and help maintain a positive Library environment. 
  • Assist and deliver the library programs and activities and promote library services and resources to the community. 
  • Actively participate in the development and implementation of the team’s business plans. 
  • Provide your support to the team to ensure daily operational requirements are met.

You will have

  • Eligible for membership of Australian Library and Information Association or experience relevant to the duties stated. 
  • Current Class C drivers licence.
  • Working with Children Check
  • Demonstrated strong commitment to delivering quality customer service in a cross-cultural customer service environment.
  • Computer literacy
  • Effective communication both written and verbal amongst all stakeholders.
  • Ability to prioritise and work collaboratively. 

The salary range for this opportunity starts at $67,370 (Grade D Step 1) + 11% super. Salary may be negotiable dependent on skills and experience.
