We’re looking for a friendly, community-minded Library Services Officer to help deliver welcoming, accessible and high-quality library services to our community.
What we’re looking for
You’re a people-focused professional who enjoys helping others and takes pride in delivering great customer service. You have strong literacy, numeracy and digital skills, with the confidence to assist customers using computers, devices and online resources. Organised and adaptable, you can prioritise tasks, follow procedures and work effectively in a fast‑paced, team-based environment. You communicate clearly and positively, enjoy working with a diverse community, and are flexible to work within a roster that may include evenings and weekends. A background in libraries, customer-facing roles or community programs—particularly with children or early years—is desirable. You’ll also hold (or be willing to obtain) the required qualifications, including a current Queensland Driver Licence and Blue Card.
What you’ll be doing
- Delivering friendly, customer‑focussed service by assisting customers to access library resources, digital collections and technology
- Providing reference and information services, including catalogue assistance, online searches and inter‑library loans
- Completing circulation tasks such as issuing, returning, renewing and processing library items
- Shelving resources and maintaining attractive, accessible library spaces
- Supporting customers with devices, printing, scanning and basic troubleshooting to build digital confidence
- Assisting with collection maintenance, including processing, repairs, weeding and stocktakes
- Participating in library programs and events such as Storytime, baby rhyme time, technology sessions and community activities
- Supporting new staff, volunteers and work experience participants
- Completing administrative tasks, maintaining records and statistics, and following WHS and recordkeeping requirements
