The Burnside Library is part of South Australia’s extensive network of public libraries. The second busiest library in the State, Burnside prides itself on a dynamic collection of items available for loan along with programs including digital literacy, Baby Chat and Story Time, and author talks throughout the year. With over 220,000 visitors each year, the Burnside Library is situated at the heart of one of Adelaide’s most attractive and historic residential areas. The City of Burnside covers 28 suburbs and has a residential population of over 45,000. We are focused on making a real difference in our community and achieving our vision to deliver services valued by our community.

We are seeking an energetic and experienced individual to join our Library team in the position of Senior Technical Services Officer.

Key responsibilities will see you contributing to the development and maintenance of collections and be passionate to further develop and manage the Library’s extensive community languages collections. Having an excellent knowledge of various library collections and resources will provide the opportunity to share your knowledge with members of the team. You will be involved in general library functions and will be rostered to work as the supervisor on weekends as required.

If you are a pro with CollectionHQ and able to breeze through selections using BLUEcloud and have a good understanding of the importance of community languages this is the role for you! To be successful in this role, you will have experience supporting the processes and operations relating to library technical services and collection development. Sound knowledge of the cataloguing and classification system as applied to public libraries is essential. The ideal candidate will excel in delivering outstanding customer service, possess strong technical skills, and have well-developed communication and interpersonal abilities.

You will be required to undertake a National Police and DHS Check as part of the on-boarding process and must have the right to live and work in Australia to apply for this position.

This position is offered as a permanent position on a part-time FTE 0.8 basis, classified at Level 3 under the City of Burnside Administration Employees Enterprise Agreement 2023.
