We have a great opportunity to join the Geelong Regional Library Corporation as a Library Coordinator.

If you are creative, curious, and dynamic, with expertise in management and connecting with and nurturing relationships within a community we’d like to hear from you.

The Library Coordinator plays a vital role in leading, developing and coaching individuals and teams to provide outstanding library services and programs, enhancing customer satisfaction. This position oversees the delivery of on-site library and information services, ensuring vibrant, safe, inclusive, and diverse environments for users.

This is a permanent full-time position, however for the first 12 months, you will be based at the Geelong Library and Heritage Centre where you will be co-leading with another Library Coordinator.

After 12 months your location will change based on operational needs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the library, including staff management of a large team, budgeting, and facility maintenance.
  • Develop and implement innovative programs and services that meet the diverse needs and interests of our community members.
  • Curate and manage the library's collection, ensuring it remains current, relevant, and engaging.
  • Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment where patrons of all ages feel valued and empowered.
  • Collaborate with local schools, community organisations, and stakeholders to promote literacy and lifelong learning initiatives.
  • Utilise technology and digital resources to enhance library services and accessibility.
  • Promote the library through outreach efforts and community engagement activities.

Qualifications required:

  • Bachelor's degree or graduate diploma in a relevant field.
  • Previous experience working in a public library setting, with demonstrated leadership and managerial skills, is desirable.
  • Strong organisational abilities and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and prioritise in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for serving the needs of diverse communities.
  • Proficiency in library management systems, digital technologies, and information literacy principles is desirable.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to embrace change and contribute to the growth and development of the library.

As a part of the library's leadership team, the Library Coordinator is integral to Geelong Regional Library Corporation's future planning initiatives, especially regarding the specific requirements of the local community.

Join us in shaping the future of our community through the power of knowledge and imagination! If you're ready to make a difference and embark on this exciting adventure with us, we encourage you to apply.
