About the role

As a key member of the Senior Library Leadership Team, you will help shape the future of Wyndham City Libraries across collections, workforce capability and service delivery.

You’ll provide strategic oversight of physical and digital collections, including planning, budgets, procurement, contracts and performance, while supporting contemporary and inclusive collections that reflect our diverse community.

This is a role for a strategic and collaborative leader who can turn priorities into action, build strong relationships and confidently navigate competing demands in a dynamic environment.

The role may include occasional evening and weekend work, travel between branches and attendance at community events.

What your day will look like

  • Providing strategic leadership for Wyndham Libraries' physical and digital collections, ensuring they remain relevant, accessible and responsive to community needs.
  • Leading Library Operations initiatives, including induction, training, professional development, leadership development and workforce planning.
  • Managing budgets, procurement processes, contracts and reporting requirements across collections and workforce capability programs.
  • Working collaboratively with library leaders, stakeholders and specialist teams to deliver service improvements and innovative library initiatives.
  • Leading and developing staff through coaching, mentoring, performance conversations and professional growth opportunities.
  • Responding proactively to emerging operational challenges and supporting effective solutions in a fastpaced environment.
  • Reviewing customer feedback, service trends and performance data to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement.
  • Supporting consistent practices and high-quality service delivery across Wyndham's library network.

What you will bring

  • Tertiary qualifications in Library and Information Services or a related discipline, together with substantial relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in library operations, collection management and workforce capability development.
  • Strong leadership experience, with a proven ability to build capability, lead teams and foster a positive workplace culture.
  • Experience managing budgets, projects, operational planning and service improvement initiatives.
  • Highly developed communication, stakeholder engagement, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to balance strategic priorities with operational demands and deliver outcomes in a complex environment.

If you progress beyond the interview stage, you may be required to undertake pre-employment screening, which may include a police check, medical assessment, qualification verification and Australian work rights check.
