What do the positions look like?

  • Assist Supervisor Circulation to maintain a clean and safe environment for customers and staff, including general presentation of library resources.
  • Provide excellent customer service throughout the service precinct including dealing with incidents and issues related to circulation and assistance with online resources, in a timely and helpful manner.
  • Assist with library activities, events and programs as needed and directed.
  • Engage in safe, accurate and efficient handling and movement of library materials including shelving, returns and retrieval of items.
  • Engage in mandatory and corporate training as related to circulation, customer service and safety.

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • Year 12 education or a combination of experience, qualification, and competence, which enables the incumbent to perform all of the duties of the position.
  • Current unrestricted ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence.
  • Experience in the routine library activities is desirable.
  • Basic oral and written communication and numeracy skills.
  • Basic computer literacy skills including the capacity to effectively use Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint applications, and the ability to learn the Library Management System.
  • Excellence in customer service skills with the ability to provide accurate and timely advice in a helpful and supportive manner.
  • Basic time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Availability to work regularly on weekends, according to assigned pattern of work for the position.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
