Library Clerk

Two Permanent Part-Time Positions | 57 hours per fortnight each
Work Across City of Armadale Libraries | Fixed Roster | Evening and Weekend Shifts
$69,221 - $84,051 pro rata (inclusive of 6 day loading) + 12% Super

Great libraries rely on people who keep everything organised behind the scenes.

Our libraries are about much more than books. They are welcoming community spaces where people come to learn, connect, access technology and feel supported.
As a Library Clerk, you will help keep our collections, records and back-of-house processes running smoothly. You will also step forward to assist customers, programs and daily library operations when needed.

The City of Armadale continues to invest in its libraries, including a new library opening soon. This is an opportunity to join a service that is growing and evolving alongside its community.

About the Role
This position combines detailed back-of-house library work with customer and community support. Working across two or three City libraries each fortnight, you will help ensure our resources are organised, accessible and ready for the community to enjoy.

You will:

  • Catalogue, process and prepare library materials
  • Undertake postal, administrative and collection-related tasks
  • Maintain accurate borrower records and library system information
  • Keep library materials organised, accessible and in good condition
  • Help customers locate and use physical and digital resources
  • Assist with library programs, promotional displays and community activities
  • Process financial transactions accurately when working at the service desk
  • Contribute to a safe, welcoming and well-organised library environment

These are fixed-roster positions that includes evening and weekend shifts. Applicants must be available to work the full roster across different library locations.

About You
You enjoy work where accuracy and organisation matter, but you are equally comfortable stepping forward to help a customer or support your team.

Previous library experience would be welcomed, but it is not essential. We can teach you our systems and processes if you bring the right attitude, a willingness to learn and genuine care for the community.

You will bring:

  • Strong attention to detail and an organised, methodical approach
  • Good customer service and communication skills
  • Confidence using computers, digital tools and online resources
  • The ability to manage your time and work with general oversight
  • A flexible and cooperative approach to teamwork
  • The ability to move between focused back-of-house work and customer-facing responsibilities
  • Curiosity, reliability and a willingness to learn new systems
  • Year 12 education or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and training

Knowledge of library operations, readers’ advisory or library management systems would be advantageous.

You will need a current C Class Driver’s Licence and a current National Police Certificate, or the ability to obtain one. A Working with Children Check may also be required if your duties include storytime or other interactive children’s programs.
