We are seeking an approachable and people centric individual who is passionate about providing high level customer service and holds a genuine interest in contemporary library services. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team and make a positive impact within the Barossa community. As the Library Experience Officer, you’ll play a key role in:

  • Providing high-quality customer service across our library network.
  • Delivering a broad range of effective library operational duties, including but not limited to, check outs and returns, responding to customer enquiries, routine shelving, item processing, and supporting and promoting various programs and events.
  • Assisting members of the community to feel confident in making the best use of library services.
  • Assisting in community lifelong digital literacy skills through supporting customers to effectively use technology.

To be successful you will need:

  • Exceptional customer service skills including a positive and friendly demeanour and the ability to build and foster relationships with customers.
  • Genuine interest and developing understanding of contemporary public library services.
  • A flexible, team player attitude with the ability to work within a collaborative team environment.
  • Experience in displaying patience, empathy and confidentiality in a customer service environment, and ability to see customers through to a resolution.
  • Ability to manage your time efficiently and prioritise tasks in a fast-paced customer service environment.

Essential position requirements

  • This position requires you to hold and provide evidence of a current and valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) before being appointed to the position.
  • All employees are required to undertake a pre-employment medical prior to commencement.
