Team Leader – Aldinga and Willunga Libraries

About the Position

Aldinga and Willunga Libraries are a part of the City of Onkaparinga Library network and is known for their welcoming, inclusive and family friendly environments.  Our team of passionate library staff work hard to ensure every customer receives a positive experience and is encouraged to utilise our library as a place to learn, enjoy, feel safe and connect with the community. This position has responsibilities across the six library branches in City of Onkaparinga

Reporting to the Team Leader Collection Management and Library Services, this is an exciting leadership opportunity to make a meaningful impact across our library service.  In this role, you will:

  • lead and manage a dedicated team of staff and volunteers across Aldinga and Willunga Libraries.
  • lead and champion digital inclusion initiatives across all Onkaparinga Libraries
  • implement the Libraries Strategic Plan and contribute to the achievement of organisational strategic priorities.
  • manage the Aldinga and Willunga library facilities, ensuring services, programs and resources align with the needs of the community and the strategic objectives of the City of Onkaparinga.

You are an experienced and approachable people leader who is passionate about customer service and community outcomes. You bring a collaborative leadership style, a commitment to developing others and an understanding of the important role libraries play in supporting lifelong learning, digital inclusion and community wellbeing.

Ideally you will possess:

  • Strong interpersonal skills that foster inclusion, collaboration, staff development and a culture of professional service excellence.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate, empower and develop high performing teams
  • The ability to support, mentor and guide staff and volunteers to deliver efficient, ethical and customer-focused services.
  • Sound knowledge of library principles and practices particularly in relation to technology, customer service and service delivery within a large, complex multi-brand library service.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the role public libraries play in advancing digital inclusion and improving community access to technology and digital literacy skills.

Key Selection Criteria:

  1. Proven experience in a customer centric leadership role.
  2. Demonstrated understanding of digital inclusion and the role libraries play in improving community access to technology and digital skills,
  3. Strong verbal and written communication skills, including report writing.
  4. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  5. Experience leading and delivering impactful projects.
