The Town of Bassendean is a small local government that sits along the Derbarl Yerrigan on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people. About the team

The Town’s Library Services is an important community and cultural hub that supports the information, literacy, lifelong learning, and recreational needs of the community. Library staff are responsible for providing excellent customer service along with assisting in the provision of special programs at the library as well as library and information duties.

About the role

Assist the community to access and use the library service and its resources through the delivery of excellent customer service and high-quality programs that support learning, literacy and social inclusion.

Support the provision of library services through functions including digital services, collections, programming, home delivery service, financial and general administration tasks.

About you

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Demonstrated customer service experience and communication skills
  • Experience with delivering outreach programs such as Storytime and Adult workshops
  • Good knowledge of automated library management systems, e-resources, associated devices and download processes, and associated keyboard, data entry and processing skills
  • Time management, planning and organisational skills to meet requirements of the role.
  • Ability to process information in a busy environment
  • Ability to lift and carry a medium load
  • Ability to work rostered hours including evenings and Saturday mornings
  • Working with Children Check
  • National Police Certificate

Salary and Benefits

This part-time, fixed term six-month contract attracts an hourly rate range of $36.07 to $38.40 plus superannuation.

The Town also offers up to 4% additional superannuation (conditions apply), 17.5% leave loading, free parking, ongoing training and professional development, and up to two additional leave days per calendar year.

Working Hours

The position is part time, 39 hours a fortnight, working roster as below:

Tuesdays - 8.5 hours

Fridays - 7 hours

Saturdays - 4 hours
