Home Library Services Librarian 

  • Full time, fixed-term position until 30 June 2025
  • Rewarding community focused role
  • $79,701 - $92,744 per annum (pro rata to be applied) plus Super

We are seeking a positive and highly organised librarian with a strong customer focus, to join our team of staff committed to providing high quality library experiences to the Boroondara community. This is a full-time (35 hours per week) fixed-term role, primarily based at Camberwell Library.

Please note regular weekend and evening work is required with this role.

A little bit about the role

Along with general library duties, the role will provide the highest possible standard of frontline and circulation support in person, by telephone and in writing to the Boroondara community. The role will also take every opportunity to promote the library’s services, collections (print and digital) and events.

The role supports the provision of equitable access to library services and materials for members of the Boroondara community of all ages, including people in institutions, who are unable to visit the library because of frailty, illness, disability or other valid reasons.

As a Home Library Services Librarian, you will be responsible for:

  • selecting and coordinating deliveries of specific materials to housebound individuals
  • ensuring a relevant and well-maintained large print and talking book collection; and
  • volunteer management.                             

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Well-developed and positive interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively with both staff and public.
  • Experience working in a library, preferably in a public library.
  • Ability to liaise effectively and sensitively with a range of individuals, agencies and community organisations.
  • Ability to train staff and members of the public in the use of information tools and technology.
  • Ability to supervise, organise and direct other staff in a customer service and operational setting and volunteers.
  • Experience in frontline customer service; and
  • Proven versatility and flexibility to manage time and plan work according to demand.

 Qualifications and Employment Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification which confers eligibility for professional membership of the Australian Library and Information Association.
  • Applicants must have the right to work in Australia.
  • Preferred applicants will be required to undergo a National Police Record Check and hold a valid Working with Children Clearance.
