Redland City Council is seeking a dedicated and customer-focused Library Assistant to join our Branch Libraries team on North Stradbroke Island. This role is instrumental in delivering a diverse and comprehensive range of public library services that support the information, recreational, and educational needs of our community. This is a fantastic opportunity for North Stradbroke Island residents to secure employment on the Island. The successful candidate will be required to travel to and from the Dunwich Library or Point Lookout Library in their own time.

Guided by our Values, your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide direct branch library services under limited direction, including circulation activities, shelving of items, data entry, user education, promotional activities, and cash collection, which meet the Unit's Service Level Agreement.
  • Provide customer service to a large and diverse range of clients with varying needs and priorities, including the prompt actioning and follow-through of library inquiries and the diplomatic handling of sensitive matters, to achieve effective customer relationships.
  • Apply good organisational skills in order to complete workloads within time frames and to standards as directed.
  • Apply and assist with the review of branch work procedures to support continuous improvement and consistency of service delivery.

We are looking for a customer-focused and team-oriented professional with strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with a diverse range of library clients. Your ability to provide positive customer experiences is supported by your knowledge of library procedures, databases, and basic IT skills, including word processing and spreadsheets. You are highly organised, with excellent time management skills that enable you to prioritise tasks effectively. A strong team player, you collaborate well with colleagues, offering support and encouragement to achieve shared goals and enhance library services.
