About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager Customer Experience & Library Services, you will be responsible for the provision of expert collection management advice, support and guidance to enable the library service to meet business operational objectives and Council and Libraries SA strategic goals. Lead and manage the strategic and daily operations of the Collections Team with a focus on collection innovation, analysis of library trends and capability measures to enable community connection. The position will also manage library site operations and foster a customer focused culture throughout the Library Services team.
You will manage data of library visits, loans and programs that meets agreed targets and ensure library collections remain current and relevant for use by the community. The role will engage with other Leads of the Library to continuously review and update processes and operating guidelines that are easy to understand and continue to build on customer service across both Council libraries.
With your professional managerial skills, you will provide expert advice, support and guidelines to the library team and wider library network.
This role requires some out of hours work including evening opening hours and rostered weekends as well as attendance at official meetings or events after hours.
The right person will have skills and experience in the following:
- Library tertiary qualification as recognised by the Australian Library & Information Association or relevant tertiary qualification or experience in a leadership role.
- Collection development standards, legislation, theory and management, including technical proficiency.
- Resource management, mentoring and coaching individuals to deliver quality outcomes.
- Trends and best practice in sourcing, acquiring, and providing access to library collections and content in all media formats.
- Library management systems and online services.
- Leading library practices and implementing innovative services.
- Microsoft Office library systems, request management and records management systems.
- Leadership role within a library (preferably in a Public Library) managing and developing a service delivery team (highly desirable).
- Understanding of customer demographics and demand and how they relate to service delivery and facility and resource management (desirable).
- Unencumbered Australian driver’s licence.
