Library Officer (Customer Support)

  • Part time positions across Boroondara’s libraries 
  • Exciting opportunity to support our dynamic Library Services team
  • $71,689 - $77,464 per annum (pro rata to be applied) plus Super

Two exciting opportunities have arisen for a Library Officer to join our Library Services Customer Support team.

  • Permanent part time role working 25.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday) at Camberwell Library
  • Permanent part time role working 15 hours per week (Wednesday to Friday) at Ashburton Library

Please note the successful candidates will need to be available to work weekends and evenings for both roles.

A little bit about the role

Along with general library duties, the role will provide the highest possible standard of frontline and circulation support in person, by telephone and in writing to the Boroondara community. The role will also take every opportunity to promote the library’s services, collections (print and digital) and events.

We are seeking enthusiastic and self-motivated individuals with a strong customer focus, to join our team committed to providing high quality library experiences to the Boroondara community. 

What are we looking for?

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Well-developed and positive interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively with both staff and customers
  • experience working in a library, preferably in a public library
  • experience in frontline customer service and
  • proven versatility and flexibility to manage time and plan work according to demand

Qualifications and Employment Requirements

  • Relevant post-secondary qualification.
  • High level computing skills including the use of desktop and tablet computers, Microsoft Office, web tools and social media.
  • Ability to lift, push or carry library resources around library buildings (subject to appropriate Occupational Health and Safety regulations).
  • Preferred applicants will be required to undergo a National Police Record Check and hold a valid Working with Children Clearance.
  • All City of Boroondara employees must be fully vaccinated. Appointment of the successful candidate will be subject to provision of evidence of vaccination status or medical exemption prior to commencement.
