 About the role

We are a highly customer focused team who are passionate about the role our public libraries play in the community. We support a Council network of nine branch libraries by providing exceptional customer service to all our library customers. As a Regional Librarian you will be responsible for the overall supervision of the day-to-day operations of a Logan City Council Library. The functions of this key leadership role include the delivery of exceptional customer service, staff management, building and facilities management, administration and facilitation of key library services including daily operations, information services, program/event delivery, literacy, reader's advisory and digital literacy services.

 Elements of the role include:

  • Supervise the day-to-day operation of the branch library by providing high quality Library services that are responsive to the current and future needs of the community.
  • Lead by example by ensuring the delivery of a consistently high level of customer service in an environment of constant public contact.
  • Contribute to the financial management of the branch library.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in the workplace and an ability to be a positive team leader by exhibiting influence and positivity in a dynamic and changing work environment.
  • Proactively adhere to Logan City Council’s Workplace Health and Safety obligations by maintaining personal safety and the safety of others.

Sure, we are looking for an experienced, competent, and qualified Librarian, but you will also be a pro-active thinker with well-developed interpersonal skills and a can-do attitude who keeps the community at the heart of all they do.

However, more important than experience, we are looking for someone with the following characteristics:

Mandatory:

  • Minimum qualifications of a Degree or Graduate Diploma in Library Science and eligibility for Associate membership of the Australian Library and Information Association; and an appropriate level of expertise and experience to undertake the range of responsibilities assigned.
  • Ability to satisfactorily pass all pre-employment and background checks.
  • ‘C’ class drivers’ licence
