About the role:

The Team Leader Children and Youth coordinates, develops, delivers and promotes high quality, engaging and effective library services for children and youth. In this role you will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead the development, delivery, and evaluation of programs for children and youth across all 4 of our library locations.
  • Work as a team leader and provide specialist support and training to the children and youth team, and library staff.
  • Provide subject specialist advice in relation to collections, resources, programs and services for children and youth.
  • Work with a range of Council and community partners on outreach activities, promotion of library and Council services, and community literacy programs for our diverse community.

We are  relocating our central library into the heart of the Campbelltown CBD, so you’ll play a key role in developing and delivering transitional, outreach, and promotional programs during this time, and developing networks and partnerships to deliver the best practice, innovative, and inclusive services that best meet the needs and expectations of our diverse community.


The successful candidate will demonstrate the following key skills and attributes:

  • Degree or post graduate qualifications in Library and Information Science or a related area and/ or previous relevant experience in a related sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, delivering, and evaluating high quality library programs and events for children and young people based on literacy, learning and wellbeing outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and lead staff and be an effective team leader and team member.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide strategic advice on collection management and maintenance for specialist children and youth collections.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the principles of inclusion, access, and equity, and experience in implementing them in a library or community setting.
  • Capacity for strategic thinking and commitment to continued improvement.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong commitment to customer focused service.
  • A cleared working with children check.
  • Current Class C drivers licence.
