We have an exciting opportunity for an applicant with the right skills and experience for a key leadership role with Connected Libraries (CL).

We are looking for an exceptional leader to join the CL Executive Team as the General Manager, Customer Experience, reporting directly to the CEO.

Your skills and experience will include a deep understanding and knowledge of Public Libraries and their services, strategic planning and development, continuous improvement, customer experience, change management, executive leadership and demonstrated knowledge of our local communities.

The GMCE is responsible for front-facing service delivery, collections, programs, outreach services and marketing.
Connected Libraries is known for innovation and the delivery of exceptional library services. We are funded principally by City of Casey and the State Government. We support a rapidly growing and diverse community of more than 392,000 people.

Our branch libraries are located at Cranbourne, Doveton, Endeavour Hills, Hampton Park, and Bunjil Place in Narre Warren.

What You’ll Be Working On  

Your day to day will involve developing and implementing library marketing and promotional strategies. This includes creating and coordinating promotional materials for all library activities and initiatives including posters, brochures, newsletters and digital content. 

You will also maintain, update, and improve content on the library's website and social media channels, with the opportunity to coordinate workflows across library teams to ensure all communications and marketing campaigns are delivered effectively.

To be successful in this role you will hold tertiary qualifications in marketing and/or communications (or a related discipline) or lesser formal qualifications with relevant work experience.

In addition to the above you will also demonstrate excellent attention to detail, with experience in preparing, editing, and proofing content for publication across a range of media both online and print.

About the opportunity

Reporting to the Executive Manager Library and Family Services, you will lead the delivery of programs and events that reflect community interests, priorities, learning and growth. You will drive community engagement across Library and Family Services, with a focus on meeting cultural and social needs. The position will be based primarily at Casuarina Library and predominantly works Monday to Friday. Given that the libraires are open seven days a week, you will be required to work on weekends from time to time.

Key deliverables for this role are:

  • Coordinate the strategic management and development of library programs, services, events, and marketing to meet the recreational, cultural, information and education needs of the community, with a particular focus on the inclusion of vulnerable groups and groups that experience barriers to accessing libraries
  • Oversee the development of Library and Family Services program plans and guidelines in accordance with relevant policies and strategies
  • Implement actions to promote our library service as a place that embraces and communicates the stories of Darwin's cultural diversity, including recognising and celebrating Aboriginal stories and history that relate to Larrakia people.

Employment Type: Permanent Full Time

Salary: $108,230 to $121,250 per annum (based on 70 hours per fortnight), plus superannuation and a 9 day fortnight.

Appointed salary in this range will be based on skills, qualifications, and experience.

This key role is part of the Library Management Team. Use your planning, leadership and coordination skills and experience to contribute to library policy development and to ensure that customer experiences in all branches is of a high quality!

About us

Hornsby Shire is located on Sydney's upper north shore, approximately 25 kilometres north of the CBD. Known as the ‘Bushland Shire’, our local government area is characterised by bushland comprising national park, major waterways, natural reserves and rural landscape. The rest of the Shire combines urban, rural and open spaces.

About the role

In your new role you will provide leadership, management and strategic planning to deliver high quality customer experience across the branches;

Roles and responsibilities include;

  • Provide key advice on the development of the Library’s strategic directions, policies and annual management plans ensuring that the Library contributes to the achievement of Council’s strategic goals.
  • Lead and manage the provision of efficient and effective customer services to the Hornsby Shire Community, including responding to relevant customer enquiries and resolution of complaints.
  • Manage, in liaison with relevant staff, the Library’s furniture and minor equipment assets to ensure furniture, fittings and minor equipment are sufficient throughout the network and that internal library signage meets agreed standards.
  • Lead and manage, in consultation with the Branch Manager, the Customer Service Team’s human resources, including responsibility for team building and training Customer Services staff across the Library network.
  • Manage the marketing of library customer services projects and programs.

About you

In your new role you will require highly developed management and organisational skills and the ability to lead the Library’s strategic planning to meet changing community needs and expectations.

This position requires an enthusiastic, customer focused professional with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Completion of a degree in Library and Information Science or its equivalent accepted by the Australian Library and Information Association for professional membership is an essential qualification for the position.
