The Customer Experience Leader (Libraries) works with the Leadership team to ensure City of PAE Libraries offer progressive, relevant services which enable learning, growth, and recreation opportunities for all.

The role touches all elements of service delivery across the five libraries, ensuring the physical spaces, digital environment, collections and programs offer a cohesive service that delivers on the City’s strategic priorities.

Key responsibilities of the position include:

  • Leading the day-to-day operations of a dynamic team across five library sites and an active Outreach program.
  • Providing leadership, guidance, and coaching to team members that build capability and foster a positive working environment.
  • Fostering a collaborative, inclusive and values driven team culture.
  • Leading the service in delivering customer experience improvements and enhancements across all touch points.
  • Coordinating an integrated library information service that includes readers advisory, reference, Council and community information.
  • Delivering exceptional customer experience to library users and the wider community.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Extensive experience leading large and diverse teams to deliver outstanding customer experience and community outcomes.
  • Significant industry experience working at a senior level in a public library environment.
  • Demonstrated experience working within diverse community with complex social issues.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to develop, mentor and coach staff.

This is a Level 6 position which has a current salary range of $109,121 - $116,699 per annum (plus superannuation).

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Experience in delivering a high level of customer satisfaction in a customer

  • Sound knowledge of the role of the Public Library within the community.
  • Experience supporting customers with using computers, email and the internet.
  • Experience in the delivery of Library and/or Community services or programs.
  • Previous experience in, or ability to quickly learn automated library systems and library services and knowledge or understanding of the Public Library Service Network in SA.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to manage challenging clients and situations tactfully and sensitively.
  • Experience in collaboration and liaison within a team and across a program and organisation.

About your new role

Libraries is excited to have available a position for a part time Library Team Leader. 

This key position is responsible for leading, developing and coaching individuals and capable teams to deliver exemplary library services and programs optimising customer and visitor experiences. They are responsible for leading the delivery of library and information services onsite to ensure the facilities and collections are vibrant, safe, welcoming, and inclusive spaces and drive the delivery of the City’s organisational plan outcomes.

Our Libraries are currently located below:

  • Northern Region - Helensvale, Runaway Bay, Ormeau & Upper Coomera
  • Central Region - Broadbeach, Nerang, Southport
  • Southern Region - Coolangatta, Burleigh Heads, Burleigh Waters, Elanora, Robina

This position will work 18 hours per week as described below, within the Central Region (predominantly at Southport).

Thursday  8.30am – 4:00pm 

Friday 9:00am – 1:00pm 

Saturday 8.30am – 4:00pm

About our opportunity

We have THREE exciting opportunities for Branch Team Leader’s to join our dedicated teams at Redcliffe, North Lakes and Caboolture.

In these roles, you will oversee a team of library staff in their daily operations as well as manage the library’s collection to meet the needs of the local community.

You will use a range of workforce management initiatives to lead and support your team, whilst providing expert advice and support to the senior leaders and staff. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders and regional partners to build relationships and ensure the library’s services are meeting the needs of the community.

Additionally, you would be responsible for maintaining the library’s facility and venue, contributing to the review of library processes and services and preparing business plans and reports on service outcomes.

These three libraries are open 7 days/week, closed on public holidays. We operate with a 4 week rotating roster, and the successful applicant will need to be available to work 5 out of 7 days as part of the ordinary hours. Shift times will be between 8:00am to 6:15pm, we anticipate the roster for this role will include working 1 weekend (Sat & Sun) every 4 weeks, and may include late closing one evening a week at 8:15pm.

  • Diploma of Library and Information Services (Library Technician) or equivalent post-secondary qualification
  • Strong customer service skills with and ability to deal with challenging customers and present a positive Council image.

Purpose:

To deliver innovative, high quality customer service while connecting customers with relevant and quality information and resources

About the role:

  • Provide basic circulation services to library customers
  • Work as a member of a one-team model for the delivery of services at all library service points
  • Other duties commensurate with the skill level of the position

About you:

  • Demonstrated understanding of the role and functions of circulation, lending and information services  
  • Strong interest in working with the public, members of culturally and linguistically diverse communities and other community stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in using information technology

Hume Libraries has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Childrens Librarian to join the Sunbury Library team. If you enjoy building relationships with families, communities, and educational organisations, coupled with a keen interest in children’s library programming, and a passion for promoting children’s literature this may be the role for you.

What you’ll be doing:

  • To contribute to the provision of high-quality library services that meet the educational, recreational and information needs of the diverse Hume community by delivering accessible, relevant, and innovative resources and a high standard of customer service to the Hume community.
  • To plan, develop, promote, and deliver library programs, library outreach, services, and activities for children, aged 0-12
  • Undertake regular direct library customer service duties including shift supervisor.
  • Work as part of the team to provide high quality customer service for the Hume community.
  • Work as part of the children’s programs team to plan and facilitate a range of programs across Hume Libraries.
  • Actively collaborate with the Team Leader Collections to contribute to localised collection maintenance.
  • Report any technology issues related to the branch to the Coordinator Library Collections and Technology.
  • Facilitate early learning sessions, after school programs, school holiday activities and events, and other programs as required to promote and support early language and literacy development and STEAM learning.

The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of books and literature and specialist knowledge of children’s literature and trends
  • Relevant experience in ability to develop rapport and engage with a broad range of stakeholders from diverse backgrounds including internal and external organisations.
  • Proficiency in the use of all current library management systems, RFID technology, computer applications and software, electronic resources, and digital devices.
  • Demonstrated organisational skills and the ability to supervise staff and manage a rostered shift.
  • Understanding of personnel practices including those related to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) and the ability to provide employees with supervision, guidance and on the job training.
  • Ability to identify customer needs and expectations, decide the appropriate action and respond accordingly.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in electronic and print based information resources.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills together with the ability to develop rapport and engage with a broad range of stakeholders from diverse backgrounds including internal and external organisations.

Required Certifications & Qualifications:

  • Graduate Diploma in Information Management or equivalent, facilitating eligibility for professional membership of the Australian Library and Information Association and/or experience in children’s engagement and program facilitation.
